Here you've got no choice, it's just clear covers for everything.

When I first started backing my school books, I'm sure we were only allowed wallpaper, but as school progressed the Smash hits posters came out. Even if I'd never heard of the band, it went on that book so I'd look cool, or so I thought.

Did anybody else end up backing them with wallpaper they'd never seen in their house before and wondered where the roll had come from, or was that just me?

Has wallpaper and posters book backing come to and end in the UK, or is it just France that likes the simple clear covers?

Usually wallpaper or brown paper for us, but that was 40 years ago.

You'd have been classed as posh coming to our school with books backed in sticky back plastic. We had nothing as luxurious as that.

Camb, you're about my age, were you only allowed wallpaper back then and no posters or anything?

Only wallpaper. Nothing jazzy/snazzy or cool!

I used to read "Shoot" when I was younger. Had a subby with the local newsagents. It was a great mag and I always looked forward to the League Ladders for the new season.

Not even your school text books to protect them? My son gets fined at the end of each year depending on how much damage there is. Usually it's only a couple of euros, but it goes towards new books when they're too damaged.
