Default Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Quote:
One man's struggle to take it easy.
ferrisThis film is encapsulates the 80s. Shallow, self obsessed rich kids with nothing to do but have a good time, absolute heaven! A perfect representation of the yuppy culture, nothing else matters but living it up when you're eighteen years old and totally loaded. If 80s teen movies were to be believed America was a poverty free utopia with nothing to worry about except getting to the right party and getting the girl. That's teenhood in a nutshell, and John Hughes captured it brilliantly in the 80s in this picture and also his other greats, Weird Science, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles and of course The Breakfast Club.

save ferrisTeen angst done sickly sweet and backed by a fabulous 80s soundtrack. Ferris' own soundtrack including such classics as The Dream Academy, Yello and Sigue Sigue Sputnik.

This Hughes outing, starring Mathew Broderick as the main character Ferris, tells the tale of a boy who simply wants to have a good time with his friends. He hatches an ingenious plan to get himself and his friends out of school for the day, the school Dean, Ed Rooney, is sceptical of the phantom illnesses and dead grandmothers used as excuses for the trio. While the three friends 'live it up' in downtown Chicago, Rooney ( Jeffrey Jones) tries to catch Ferris in the act of skipping school to make an example of him.

Hughes is no Oscar winner, but this is some of the best teen comedy pre Kevin Smith. Most definitely of it's time, it is iconic 80s pop culture.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a milestone in many thirty-something's lives, it delivers like all early Hughes films, easy to digest morality and teen identity. This film made me want to sample the good things in life myself, and the motto "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it" is definitely sound advice, at least for the consumer generation.

This is obviously a great personal favourite, and as such I will award it four out of five starr*s.

*This weeks competition is a rollover. As no one successfully answered last weeks question, this weeks prize is a copy of Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Bad Taste

All you need to do to win these excellent prizes is PM me the answer to the following question, along with the address you want your prize sending to.

Question. Who is the Sex in the City star married to Matthew Broderick?

The winner will be announced this time next week, and another prize will be on offer.*

That's a top film!

I know someone that would love to win that. Can I give his address or do I have to give my own? (Not that I don't trust you - It'd save me posting it on )
