Re: Old people are not that grumpy, study finds
From my experience I think people are grumpiest and moan the most in their 40s and 50s. Certainly all the people I know in that age group seem quite unhappy with life. Once people are at retirement age most of them seem quite happy with life. The only exception are the ones like my Dad who have been grumpy all their lives anyway![]()

Re: Old people are not that grumpy, study finds
I would agree and I think there are good reasons for it. By and large, people have hopes in their 20s and 30s, and for one reason or another, they get disillusioned in life in their 40s and 50s. Even if they have achieved many of their goals, you then look forward to ... what? Old age? It then takes a while to get used to this, and possibly by their mid 50s they come to terms with it. Of course, this will not apply to everyone, but it is certainly my own experience and of many people that I know.

Darn it, I was looking forward to old age as an excuse to finally be grumpy.
May as well start now.
Re: Old people are not that grumpy, study finds
My take is that whether a person is a grumpy or not depends on the person's personality rather than age. Of course, old age tends to make a grumpy person more grumpy.
