    That would be terrifying. I always get scared crossing train or tram lines for that reason.

    Yeah, I've always had a healthy fear of rail lines too. There's a crossing a few miles south of here that I had to use once, and even though you are sure there is nothing coming, you are always wary. Too many people don't treat railways with respect and forget how fast trains go and that they can't stop quickly.

    It reminds me of another completely harrowing story I once saw in a documentary.
    A woman and her boyfriend were out walking and crossed a river. The woman got stuck in the mud in the river bed and her boyfriend couldn't free her. The fire service came out and they couldn't free her either. It was a tidal river, and the water rose and drowned her
    I don't even like thinking about it. Things like that are so fucking awful.

    It's those sort of situations where someone is trapped and you know (and they know) what is going to happen but have time to contemplate it.
