I'm guessing she topped herself without medical assistance. Why wasn't someone requesting state sanctioned suicide placed on suicide watch? Why wasn't she getting treatment for her clearly chronic depression and mental state?

It's sad, but at least she isn't in any pain now.

Is suicide illegal in France? Even if it is I can't see the point in the French government saying no you can't end your own life but basically allowing it anyway, it seems a bit stupid.

I can't really blame her though to be honest, it's not something I've had to suffer but I can imagine it's pretty awful even just looking in the mirror, let alone the pain she must have been in.

She had no sense of smell and no taste buds, imagine what eating food must have been like.

She must have constantly been asking herself "Whats the point?" every time she ate. She didn't have much quality of life. Vets put animals down for a lot less because they don't want the animals suffering. A bit of human dignity would have been to allow the assisted suicide.
