Re: Do you drive and use your phone?!
I don't need to be on the phone to have accidents!
I have had two incidents involving bicycles.
One was a little girl, who shot out of a side-street and took my wing mirror off with her head. I was doing 20 in a 30 zone. Perhaps if i'd been going faster, she would have missed me!
The other was a wanker who decided to crash in to me and throw himself over my bonnet while I was barely moving.
The last one is still with the insurance peeps after nearly two years. He is being seen as the victim, even though he was clearly taking a risk by doing what he did.
The police even said to me at the time that he was in the wrong. This opinion doesn't seem to matter to the courts however. They always (i'm informed by the insurance fella) favour the cyclist because they are more "at risk".
I ponted out that it was his choice to be on a bike, but this made no difference whatsoever.
We have just settled for a 25/75 split in the cyclist's favour. I am assured that this is quite a result!!!
The system stinks.
Anyways.......I don't use the phone in the car. The extension-chord wouldn't reach that far from the house!

Re: Do you drive and use your phone?!
I would also like to point out its not just mobiles that distract drivers, smoking eating and drinking also distracts you. I remember some old fooker wiping out an entire family on the M1 as he wasnt paying attention, he was trying to get some mints out of his pocket that was on the front passenger chair

In total agreement with you. I got distracted by a news story on the radio once, and drove straight through some red lights! Lady luck was smiling that day....

Re: Do you drive and use your phone?!
My dad got pulled over in around 1977 for eating an ice cream on the motor way. That was in the days that there was hardly anyone on it.

Re: Do you drive and use your phone?!
My husband passed a trucker the other day, making a sandwich while driving.
Our hands free is routed through the radio, which cuts out when a call comes trough, a mike in the top right hand side of the car, picks up your voice.
Totally hands free!
