UK teenager found dead in Goa
BBC NEWS | England | Devon | Row over teenager death in India
The case of Scarlett Keeling is now being treated as murder.
Originally the authorities ruled that Scarlett had drowned, but Scarletts mother Fiona MacKeown claimed that detectives had overlooked cuts and bruises on her daughter's body, and the absence of water in her lungs.
I really feel for the family of Scarlett, but I am concerned about the circumstances
Fiona MacKeown, Scarlett's mother, was on a six-month holiday with her boyfriend, and six other children when her daughter died.
The rest of the party were travelling to a neighbouring state while Scarlett stayed with a tour guide in Anjuna.
Am I being cynical or is there something strange about this? A 15 year old girl being left with a tour guide while the rest of the family are in a neighbouring state?
I am not a parent, but I am sure I would be a little worried about leaving a 15 year old girl, who should be in school, with a stranger in a foreign country. Especially in Goa where it is obviously a party place, all night beach parties, drinking etc.
I realise how grown up you feel at 15, I think I had started drinking by then, but it was a can or two down the bottom of my street

Re: UK teenager found dead in Goa
I saw a bit of this on telly the other night and that exact same thing you said was said. I think it was very naive of the mother to let her daughter go drinking with complete strangers in a foreign country but I don't suppose she expected this to happen.
I don't know what it is about holidays, whether it's the fun in the sun or the complete relaxation but it does seem to make people relax all round and normal restrictions become lax.
