Voodoo
Voodoo, also known as Voodun, is a product of the slave trade. The African slaves transported to North and South America were forbidden to practice their religion and their masters baptised them as Catholic. As a result Voodoo became a mixture of Catholicism superimposed upon secret native beliefs and some say that this is the reason for the ferocious anger at the heart of it.
One of the most terrifying and well known Voodoo magic spell is for the practicer to make a small doll or puppet in the shape of the person they wish to curse. The doll is then tortured and abused with the intention of transferring the pain and harm to the person.
