It's interesting, I think, that the British way is to immediately suspect a scam. She claimed the life insurance, they're photo'd together abroad then suddenly he turns up. There are two main possibilities:

1) The photo is a mistake and it's a huge coinkydink that he turned up soon after the photo was mentioned

2) He had amnesia and disappeared for five years

I'm more likely to believe the first option. Shame I'm so cynical.

I know. Here's the article. It also says he may be extradited but doesn't mention that the wife has committed/being investigated for any crime.

I don't think so. Things just did not add up from the start. I mean, people do go missing, and people do get amnesia. But to have both at the same time and to still not be known where you are. These things were questions needing answered form the start. But I only really suspected a scam after I found out his wife had gone to Panama, of all places, and had claimed the insurance money.

Anyway, we now know it was a scam. The wife has admitted that he had been in Panama with her and that the photo is genuine.
