UK woman stabbed to death in Spain

A British pensioner has been stabbed to death in her Spanish home by a gang of murderous thieves who are targeting foreign residents in the area.

May Grocutt, who was 74 was trying to defend her home, near Alicante from the thieves whilst her husband Douglas lay bedridden upstairs. Mr Grocutt lay helplessly listening to his wife's screams as the vicious thugs killed her.

It happened in a village near to Pinoso, which is quite a way inland and not too far from us, about 20 kms.
We shall have to wait and see what nationality the bastards are, but I'd lay odds of 1000 to 1 that they aren't Spanish.

It's highly likely that arrests will be made shortly, crimes like this are taken very seriously by the Guardia Civil and no stone will be left unturned in the search for the murderers.
Interestingly or not, the Guardia have a different approach to crime detection than the English police in cases like this.

Hard to verify that statement.
It would be more accurate to say, more often than not, crimes of this nature are not perpetrated by indigenous Spaniards.

But could that not just be a the same old bollocks often put out by the Spanish authorities so as not to start a panic within the ex-pat community?

To the best of my knowledge from news I hear and read, there is no 'panic' in the expat community and no cover-ups by the authorities.

Cases like this are rarer than donkey shit in the street is these days and that's the main reason for this news reaching Britain, it's rarity. Hopefully, we're not moving towards a similar situation that exists in the UK, but my licensed shotgun is loaded and ready to hand if anyone decides to attempt anything similar here!
