The fact that you can't explain what you mean?

Re: Cruel and Unusual Punishment
I think he's saying that you must surely be criticising "God's" work if you are criticising capital punishment as "God" is known to have carried out a few executions himself. Or at least angels on his behalf.

Spot on son, I'm glad to see that my wording isn't as cryptic as Fenella makes it out to be.

Re: Cruel and Unusual Punishment
I'm not talking about God, I'm talking about humans. No human has the right to deliberately kill another human, no matter what they've done. I thought that was clear enough. It's SFB who brought God into it. Besides, I don't think Jesus would approve of execution.

And why not? God has given humans the freedom to do whatever we damn want. If i want to kill every living thing in my vincinity, so be it.
And who are you to question what Jeesus would say to that matter?
Do to others as you would wish others to do to thee?
So everyone who is pondering suicide would be inclined to kill people?

I have read the Gospels so I think I know more than you give me credit for.
IN MY OPINION it is wrong to deliberately kill anyone else.

Re: Cruel and Unusual Punishment
You are fighting an uphill battle against the nature of humans to kill.
We win you lose

When you say "anyone" that appears pretty universal. The argument does still stand that if "God" created morality he himself has acted immorally. But that's a different thread entirely.
For the purpose of this discussion are we to accept that "God" is simply above all mortals and shelve it to another thread?

Re: Cruel and Unusual Punishment
Of course God is above morals!
He is omnipotent, morals are just a weakness of the humans.
Pity is a weakness.

Re: Cruel and Unusual Punishment
Anger is also a weakness, plus a few other human failings!
