That does annoy me. I remember watching Children in Need one year and there was this poor family who managed to produce six kids, four of which had some terrible ailment caused by a recessive gene. They were on TV begging for money to help them.

I know. I mean you can understand one child because the parents wouldn't know they carried the gene, but after they found out I can't understand why they would chance it. They inflict terrible diseases on children just because they would like another child. Well I'm sorry but they should think of the child first.

Yeah and while we're at it why don't we sterilize them so we have a perfect empire.

I know of a young woman with a condition, unpronoucable, that is very similar to motor nearone disease, by the age of 30 she will be confined to a wheelchair and have to be spoon fed. She gave birth to her first born at age 22 and despite doctors orders she purposely got pregnant again so her son could have a brother and therefore would not be alone.

I remember thinking about it for days.. what is best, your mother being incapacited when you're a child or having two children who effectively lose their mother at a young age but having each other to turn too. I never did decide which was best.

But come on, two people have a child with a terrible condition that they know is genetic and inherited. They want another child and they know there is a 25% chance that the new child will have the same condition. Is that statistic low enough to chance it? I don't think so.
