Oakland man who killed boy is found dead in prison
An Oakland man convicted of murder for fatally beating a 2-year-old boy was found dead in his state prison cell in what is being investigated as a possible homicide, authorities said.
Damon Valery, 40, was found unresponsive Tuesday in his cell at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad (Monterey County), said the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
