Not sure why they did this test without ensuring the area was clear first. Y'see, this is where Health and Safety DOES work. You would have a procedure to follow and part of that would be to make sure the area is clear, and to work with other organisations to do so. It's easy to say it's common sense, but people forget stuff, it's going to happen.

Timey, I agree that when working with highly dangerous machinery there should be a certain level of health and safety. But the majority of health and safety officials in the world would have told him to wear a hi-viz vest, and that would have been the best they could come up with. Oh, and a work permit.

Told my mum about it. She refuses to look at the pics ...

Dad will probably have a look though, seeing as he works at Duxford and is into aircraft.

Maybe, but where I work, where HSE is very important, it would have been a lot more than that.

I know, I'm pulling your leg. But I go to loads of places and health and safety just means signing off on doing dangerous things half the time.

"Are you working at heights? Confined spaces? Hot work? You need a permit for that!"

As if writing it down somehow reduces any risk.

And they do seem to think that hi-viz jackets are like a fucking shield of invulnerability.
