I think that if people just kept their pictures/videos/whatever off their computers, this wouldn't be such a problem. Sure, there are other ways to get nasty videos other than searching through a computer's files, but that is one big step people should make to secure their privacy.

I need captainobvious.jpg for the first part of this, but google images ain't working.

As for the second bit, should they really? I'd be interested in seeing (if possible) how many times private pictures have been stolen from houses and then used in such ways, I expect it's happened at some point.

Computers and the internet are great because they give much better communication with people, but with that extra communication comes a bit of added risk too. Stories like this certainly aren't going to make me delete the pictures of my cheesy knob off my C drive.
