He and his team tracked down the reptile and killed it, they then slit the creature open and retrieved the victim’s severed arm in the hope doctors could reattach it.

An alligator bit off a golfer's arm as he tried to pick up his ball on a golf course.
The gator grabbed him by the arm with its powerful jaws, dragged him in to the pond and began a death roll.
The golfer, who is in his 70s, got away when his playing partners rushed to help at the Ocean Creek course in Beaufort County, South Carolina.
