Having the boy raised as a girl won't work - it's been tried before (look up Dr. John Money and the John/Joan case). His brain is still male, along with his DNA. Unless he was born transgender he'll always feel like a boy regardless of attempts to socialize him otherwise.

The child that John Money had raised as a girl after his penis was accidentally destroyed wound up living as a man for a while and then just committing suicide.

It would have been more merciful if this poor little guy had just bled to death. The only thing that could make this right is if cloning technology progresses to the point that his organs can be 'grown' from his own DNA and implanted. Fortunately he was born only a few years ago, so by the time it becomes a serious issue the technology may be here.

This mother deserves to be tortured for as long as possible. I'd like to see them spend at least 10 million dollars keeping her alive while she's tortured in every way imaginable. Blood transfusions, everything. Keep at it until she can't feel anything. Then cut out her tongue, eyes and eardrums, amputate her limbs and stick her in hospital bed to rot for the rest of her life.
