Third degree murder? Oh, I see ... a killing that resulted from a depraved heart or extreme recklessness. Well not locking the cage after replacing a snake that had already escaped once could be considered extreme recklessness I suppose ... What about putting a live grenade, with the pin in, in the playpen of an inquisitive toddler? I suppose that would be third degree as well then?

It's not looking good for the parents, an investigation has revealed that snake was starving and hadn't eaten in weeks. When it was fed it was being given roadkill because they probably couldn't afford to feed it. And it wasn't kept in a secure vivarium.
