Over here they're trying to get Ronnie Biggs released because he's so old, but I doubt anyone is going to argue about locking 90 year olds up because they're Nazis.

It does seem somewhat of an over-kill doesn't it. Where is the sense in locking up a 90 year old?

Because if they don't face the punishment evr at all then they have got away with it.

Biggs isn't a Nazi. He only robbed a train and got away with it. That other fella murdered alot of people. He won't be in there for long. He'll be dead in a couple of years.

Biggs shouldn't get out either though, but that's just my opinion. But you are right, Alpha, the crimes don't even compare.

Away with it? Oh, I don't know ... there are some that will certainly have gotten away with it but living the majority of your life hiding your past is not exactly a picnic I would have thought and throwing a 90 year old in jail 'for the remainder of his life' is not exactly going to be just retribution for the crimes they have been found guilty of.

Maybe not, but at least it is something, and better than letting them go in freedom. Just my opinion though.

Naming and shaming would probably be as effective, especially if the old men live in the actual communities where the atrocities have occurred; might even be more effective a punishment as they would have to face the disapprobation on a daily basis rather then be safeguarded from anything by the 'duty of care' incumbent on prison systems.

I think the guilty should be pursued until death.
As for compensation, tougher call, don't think so.
