First US Face Transplant
A woman in America has been showing off the results of the United States' first ever full face transplant.

Connie Culp lost her face when her husband shot her with a shotgun. He got seven years inside for it, she's had over 30 operations, but at least now she has a face and doesn't need to breathe through a tube anymore.
Re: First US Face Transplant
Wonderful isn't it. Okay, I know she looks nothing like the before, but at least she can now breathe on her own again, eat again, smell again.
I don't think that the name calling will ever really stop though I daresay when you consider the alternatives, this is making the best of it.

'I'd sit alone and watch your light,
My only friend through teenage nights,
And everything I had to know, I heard it on my radio'
Re: First US Face Transplant
In another interview, it said a boy called her a "monster" She took out an old photo of herself, and explained she had had an accident, but this was what she used to look like. I found that terribly sad.
Re: First US Face Transplant
Sad ... yes but also very courageous. It takes a lot of determination to get as far as she has.

I have always said that it is not what is on the outside it is what is on the inside that is important I am an ugly sod so I would say that![]()

Re: First US Face Transplant
It's amazing that they've been able to transplant a face and the flesh survives on the new body. I know her face looks kinda odd but her skin looks really really healthy.
The woman seems to be a very warm person and have an amazing spirit, I doubt very much that most people would be able to cope with what she's been through but she's there and she's making jokes in front of a camera crew.
I was wondering if this wasn't the end for her. When the surgery she's had has settled down would she be able to have more to tidy her up a bit?
Re: First US Face Transplant
A few more operations and she will look just great. The operation has made a big difference already. I'm sure she is going to continue surgeries until she is at a point to where her face is proportionate.
Re: First US Face Transplant
It will probably cost a few more million to continue on this. Hope she has the cash.
