I suppose that's the long and short of it. I can't understand suicide at all, it is completely alien to me.

I don't understand suicide either, unless it was to avoid a painful death or save your platoon or family or something like that.

I remember talking to someone once who'd been admitted to a hospital for trying it, and he said at the time he really didn't know what he was doing.

I don't know how common that is, but if that's a fact, it's pretty scary.
