Default Kids TV

As usual they were moaning on Radio 4 this morning about how little UK produced TV there was for kids, and how many were being brought up on a diet of American cartoons and the Disney Channel.

Now I don't know how true that is in households that have Sky or cable, but we only have Freeview, so by far the lions share of TV my kids watch is Cbeebies or CBBC.

My eldest two are regularly watching

Tracy Beaker
The Queen's Nose
Prank Patrol
Chuckle Brothers
Basil Brush

and my nipper watches

Bob The Builder
In The Night Garden
Telly Tubbies
Rory The Racing Car
Numberjacks

which as far as I know are all homegrown. The only 'import' that appeals to them is Lazytown, but I think that's very well done and has high production values anyway, so no problem there.

All in all I think we're pretty well served with original kids TV - what do you lot reckon?

Default Re: Kids TV

I accidentally watched "Trapped" the other day on BBC1.
It's a bit like "Nightmare" from the days of yore, (the 80's).

It made me laugh. There was a plant that talks saying things like, "Don't feed me lies".

There is also a Northern accented goblin or somesuch who links the various tasks with his grumbling.

Better than those badly drawn American cartoons that are all over the place.
