The 1975 series has been updated. A virus has killed 90% of everyone in the UK. Out of the devistation. Some plucky survivors team together to find out what happened.

Chahak Patel - Najid
Football-mad Najid is a devout Muslim who has been orphaned as a result of the virus.

Phillip Rhys - Al Sadiq
The privilaged playboy becomes an unlikely father figure to 11-year-old Najid.

Nikki Amuka-Bird - Samantha Willis
The junior minister is the last point of contact between the authorities and the outside world.

Paterson Joseph - Greg Preston
Greg is well-equipped for life in a post-virus world, but prefers to go it alone.

Julie Graham - Abby Grant
When her son Peter goes missing after the outbreak, Abby refuses to believe he is dead.

Max Beesley - Tom Price
A dangerous prisoner who resorts to desperate measures to get himself out of jail.

Freema Agyeman - Jenny Collins
The primary school teacher risks her life when she rushes her sick flatmate to hospital.

Shaun Dingwell - David Grant
A self-employed builder whose marriage to Abby has been put under strain bt their son Peter's illness.

Zoe Tapper - Dr Anya Raczynski
The doctor is devastated when her efforts to save people are overwhelmed by the scale of the crisis.


Survivors is on Sunday's and Tuesday's at 9pm on BBC One and on the HD Channel

Yeah, was that the one about the train that crashed in a tunnel and a gas that someone was carrying leaked out which put them into a sleep for years. They woke up and found that and asteroid had hit the Earth and everything was devastated. Then they estimated that they had been out for 15 years and it was 2013 but later they found it was actually something like 2050 or something.

I saw the original - loads of fun - not but I checked with she and we decided to miss this one.

I love the fact we have so many films depicting the end of us humans - when some would suggest we are sleep walking towards this for real.

Some would but I wouldn't. Not ALL humans. Just some blinkered ones - allegedly.
