10 Things About....Grange Hill
1) Grange Hill reaches it's last episode this week. The longest running show in the history of children's TV began in on 8th February 1978 and was the brainchild of Brookside and Hollyoaks creator Phil Redmond.
2) The orginal title was Grange Park, but it had to be changed because there were several real schools with that name.
3) In the early 1980's the show spawned a spin-off, Tucker's Luck, starring the original cast member Todd Carty, who appears this week as a pupil's uncle.
4) The most famous storyline saw Zammo McGuire hooked on heroin back in 1986. It led to the Just Say No campaign.
5) Parents were so shocked by the storylines that a WI branch called for the show to be banned
6) During the 1980's, the late film director Anthony Minghella was a script editor
7) A 1979 episode which saw the headmaster bow to students calls for free meals was debated in Parliament.
8) Grange Hill broke new ground in 1992 with an underage pregnancy storyline and the recruitment of a gay teacher. Mr Brisley.
9) Laura Sadler, whose character was killed by a fall from a school window, died after falling out of a building in 2003.
10) Justin Lee Collins reunited former cast members in 2005 documentary Bring Back Grange Hill.

Re: Grange Hill ready for final bell
What's the storyline about? The school closing?
Brookside's storyline was the residents moving out because of some development and the houses would be flattened.

Re: Grange Hill ready for final bell
It says in the story, an unexploded bomb. And the return of Tucker Jenkins.
I used to love watching the big dramatic storylines when I was at school. You always wanted your school to set on fire in real life.
Mr Bronson was the best character of the show. I stopped watching it when he left in '89.
