Default Primeval Season Three

Series three of this dinosaur battling cult show is set to return in early 2009, it's being produced right now and a few details are being leaked.

There's new characters, and new monsters in store for us.

First new cast member is Ben Mansfield who will be playing Captain Becker. Becker is supposedly filling the void left behind when they killed off the head of ARC security at the end of season one. From what I've read he'll be playing a larger role than the previous security Captain, and will be more of a team member.

Another newbie is actress Laila Rouass from Footballer's Wives. She'll be playing Egyptologist Sarah Page who appears in the season opener when a crocodile-like monster appears at an Egyptian exhibition she's curating. She then joins the ARC team.

Laila Rouass

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star Jason Flemyng is an interesting addition to the cast. He'll be playing a maverick cop who finds himself involved in the bizarre world of dinosaur hunting after investigating the death of his brother. His character Danny Quinn is reported to be a no nonsense tough guy, and should bring some good tough guy action to the show.

Most of the other regulars will return, Hannah Spearritt and Andrew-Lee Potts both reprise their roles, and by the looks of the promo photos Lucy Brown will also be back.

Andrew-Lee Potts

Spearritt has allegedly put her foot down and won't be doing any more gratuitous underwear scenes, and Potts' character Connor is supposed to be less nerdy. Sounds like two mistakes there already. Hopefully Brown will continue to flash plenty of cleavage whilst fleeing from prehistoric bests.

Lucy Brown

Douglas Henshall will of course return as Nick Cutter, but rumours are circulating that this might be his last season of the show. Anyone with anymore information on this please let us know. With Stephen Hart out of the picture, the bizarre love triangle with him, Nick and Helen has ended. I've not seen anything to suggest Juliet Aubrey will be returning to play Helen Cutter, but her story can't have ended?

Cutter

On top of new characters there will also be new monsters. There's the previously mentioned crocodile monster, a Pristichampus apparently. There's also a huge carnivore that eats T-Rexs for breakfast, and there is also the winner of the "Create a Creature" competition that the production team ran. 16 year old Carim Nahaboo from Woodford Green, Essex designed a future predator which evolved from carnivorous beetles. Nice.

This monster is also a very fast runner, and uses its speed to hunt prey over large distances, although it can only use its wings to fly short distances.
Can't wait to see what that looks like CGI'd up.

The CGI and direction is rubbish isn't it?

I don't know why I even watch, I seem to be getting addicted to rubbish. I just can't help enjoying it, even though the production values are pretty low.
