Homeland is a 12-part US thriller based on an Israeli television series called Hatufim (meaning Abducted). The series was created by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, former writers on the series 24. It won the 2011 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama. The first episode was screened in the UK last Sunday.

The story centres on a Marine sergeant, Nicholas Brody, who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq. Carrie Mathison, an ambitious CIA officer, suspects he may have been turned by the enemy and is plotting an attack on America.

Claire Danes (Romeo and Juliet, Terminator 3) plays the driven but troubled Mathison. English born Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers) plays the haunted Brody. There are supporting roles from fellow Brit David Harewood as a CIA counter-terrorism boss, and Morena Baccarin as Brody's wife.

The goodie is a baddie (seemingly) and Morena Baccarin (looking great again) has shagged a bloke that IS NOT her husband (seemingly - I might have to watch that bit again ) !!
