    Default BBC2's lineup

Here in America, we get BBC2 (or whatever they call it -- maybe just BBC America) which brings us some of the British programming. I do chuckle, though, because one of the shows it carries a lot is Star Trek: The Next Generation. I assume it is with favor because of Patrick Stewart. It's frustrating, though, because it does air some interesting reality TV competition but it's like 2 years later. I don't understand that delay concept. Add to that that it is chopped up. Clearly, what we are seeing is not the way those in England see it.

    You get BBC 2? How?

Anyway, Star Trek TNG hasn't been on BBC 2 for awhile now. What they do show is stuff like nature documentarys, CBBC and other type of documentarys. Top Gear on Sundays. The UK version that is.

Actually, this is what's on today

In the UK they don't show any commercials on the BBC channels, so I'm guessing they pretty much butcher them abroad jamming loads of commercial breaks in.

I would hope they do. I'm not having them getting the programmes that we pay for for free. It does seems that British programmes are pretty popular in the US at the moment though, which is a good thing I think.

Ah ha! That explains it -- commercials! While ST:TNG airs pretty much normally since it was shot for commercials, all those other shows are butchered to allow for commercials here. No wonder there are those horrid gaps! I watch BBC America all the time and have cringed at some of the cuts.

To be honest it goes both ways. I'll watch an American show on British TV and after you've been watching for ten minutes the titles roll.
