About the show

A group of courageous pioneers face a unique opportunity: the chance to build a new and better future on another planet.

Settled in the town of Forthaven on Carpathia, the Outcasts are passionate about their jobs, confident of their ideals and optimistic about the future. They work hard to preserve what they've built on this planet they now call home, having embraced all the challenges that come with forging a new beginning.

They are led by President Tate and his core team of Stella, Cass and Fleur – they took charge and settled here first alongside Expeditionaries Mitchell and Jack.

They are a diverse group of individuals who left their old lives behind in extraordinary circumstances; promised a second chance at life they created a society, far away from their home, friends, family... and their pasts.

The planet offers the possibility for both corruption and redemption; while they try to avoid the mistakes made on Earth, inevitably our heroes cannot escape the human pitfalls of love, greed, lust, loss, and a longing for those they've left behind.

As they continue to work and live together they come to realise this is no ordinary planet... is there a bigger purpose at work? Mystery lurks around them and threatens to risk the fragile peace of Forthaven.

Characters

President Richard Tate

Played by Liam Cunningham, he runs Carpathia and is dedicated to keeping the human species alive.

Stella Isen

Played by Hermione Norris from Cold Feet and Spooks. Isen is Head of Protection and Security (PAS), she sacrificed everything for the chance to save the world.

Fleur Morgan

Played by Amy Manson (Being Human, Torchwood) Morgan is a is young, bright and idealistic PAS officer.

Cass Cromwell

Played by Daniel Mays who was brilliant in Funland and Hustle and will be appearing in the next series of Doctor Who. Cromwell is another PAS officer described as unpredictable and fiercely loyal to President Tate.

Mitchell Hoban

Played by Jamie Bamber of Battlestar Galactica fame who also turned up in an episode of Dollhouse. Hoban is the Head of the Expeditionaries, described as progressive and ambitious.

Jack Holt

Another Expeditionary played by Ashley Walters or Asher D, one time rapper in So Solid Crew has also acted in Grange Hill and Hustle. Holt is described as tough and dangerous. Word.

Julius Berger

Berger was vice president of the Evacuation Programme on Earth and expects to retain his power and status. Berger is played by Eric Mabius who was in Ugly Betty as Betty's boss.

Tipper Malone

Malone is an Irish charmer and rebel, played by Michael Legge from Shameless.

The first episode of the eight-part series will begin Monday 7th February at 9pm on BBC1. The second episode will follow on Tuesday 8th February at 9pm on BBC1.

This actually looks pretty good, so i might just watch this.

Due to falling ratings, or some such shit, Outcasts has been moved to Sunday nights.

It's some of the best TV Britain has produced for ages. This and Being Human are what make the BBC great.
