The make and model doesn't really help, you need to say what operating system is on it.

If it's brand new it shouldn't be slow. Any clues as to what is slow about it, i.e. what is running slow, web pages loading, applications opening, what? Give us some specifics to go on.

Personally, I'd wipe Windows 7 and put Linux on it, but that's just me I suppose.

Ah well, if you're using it for games then it might just not have the oomph to cope with it as games can be very processor hungry, and it also depends on the graphics capability of it. It depends on the internal hardware it has really.

Just joking about the Linux. It's what I would do but that's because I'm a bit of a geek with that sort of thing.

Games online will use a fair bit of cpu, the more you have spare the more it will use to run faster a lot of the time.

Linux is one way to go, as is dual operating systems, you keep windows in you need it.

With regards to speeding up windows, uninstall anything you don't need, Revo uninstaller is a cracking free thing that uninstall things more fully and removes registry entries that slow things down. A registry cleaner is useful too, I like ccleaner for that.
