MY SMARTPHONE BECAME A PAIN IN THE BACKSIDE
AS I charged my new smartphone for the first time I imagined all the positive ways in which it would transform my life. Everything, from answering important work emails on the go to the urgent task of finding whether the children’s soft-play area is open, was now at my fingertips.
I never thought for a moment this dinky, pocket-size device would damage my health once I started taking it everywhere. In fact it would be my downfall.
It barely left my side or should that be backside? I would stick my phone into the back pocket of my trousers and there it would nestle all day unless I needed to use it to text my wife, check the football scores or the many other things I now relied on it for.
