Jimi Hendrix drummer found dead in Portland

Mitch Mitchell, the drummer for Jimi Hendrix Experience, was discovered dead today (November 12) in his Portland hotel room.

The 61-year-old was the last surviving member of the groundbreaking band. He had been touring the West Coast with the Experience Hendrix tour, which had made a stop in Portland.

An employee at the Benson Hotel called police after discovering Mitchell's body this morning, reports the Associated Press. He is believed to have died of natural causes.
