Football Scottish Football League & the Rangers question

It's no longer an SPL issue, as the new currant buns will not start in the top tier. There will be an SFL meeting on Friday 13th.

    From the BBC:

Scottish Football League clubs will vote whether to accept Rangers at a meeting on 13 July.

SFL chief executive David Longmuir confirmed the date after a board gathering at Hampden on Thursday.

"At this point, no decision has been taken by the board of the SFL or by any of our clubs," said Longmuir.

"I have every faith in the judgement of those clubs to make a considered and reasoned decision which will be in the best interests of the game."
    What's most likely ?

Could be Division 1 with Dundee promoted to the SPL or Dunfermline staying there.

Could be D3 with everyone being bumped-up a place, and again either Dunfermline or Dens being in the SPL.

Would be interesting if the SFL didn't let them in any of the three league divisions (promoting another non-league side to D3, like with Annan Athletic a few years ago) !!

The Scottish League needs Rangers, even if they have to work their way back up again. And Annan came in for Gretna, where there was, as far as I am aware, no newco to replace them. When Airdrieonians went bust, however, their newco, Airdrie United, were refused entry to the league and were replaced by Gretna. They only got back in because they bought out Clydebank and got into the 2nd Division as a result.

Put 'Rangers' non-league and have Tartan Villa or Real McCoy in the SFL.

Should just have a British league anyway.

Too far to travel for most teams.

Give over, I've worked covering Britain. It's not that difficult, especially if you have your own coaches and everything.

Only the big teams would be able to afford it, and probably only the top two would be in the top divisions. The rest would be in lower divisions where they wouldn't make enough money to travel nationwide, or else they would be in regional divisions anyway.

I would hate to see a 'British' or 'UK' league. I am NOT a Unionist, no different for the footy.

Should be separate league set-ups for the different countries.

I'd like to see Cardiff, Swansea, etc... play in a Welsh league.

I have my Celts in Scotland and CUFC in England ... the only way they should meet is in Europe ( ) or a friendly.
