... but you think your house is untidy and stinks. It's not a last minute thing, it's been planned for months.

What would you do about it?

This is why I don't invite people round.

I'd shove stuff in cupboards and light some candles.

I was made to stand outside. I was so shocked when I realised I wasn't getting in.

I met them elsewhere and the plan was to go back to their house to see their dogs, or so I thought. They kept saying the house is a mess and smells, but I thought it was just them preparing me because they were embarrassed, like how people just say 'excuse the mess' when it's not messy. The dogs were jumping up at the window when we got there and they just went and brought them out. After about fifteen minutes it finally clicked I wasn't getting in, I never even got as far at the front path. My husband couldn't take it any longer and just went and sat in the car.

I know. He even got a blanket out of the car and wrapped one of the dogs in it.

They did mention the dogs were weeing in the house, so I can only assume it did smell. Even so, it was rude not to be invited in.

Yeah, it was recently but not in Malta. I've got a feeling the house was a state, but if I'd have been let in I wouldn't be left thinking it was stinky and probably still had wee puddles around. I was just a bit shocked when I realised I was staying outside, it was really rude no matter how stinky the house was.

I'm not sure whether it's because they might be under the impression I might be a bit stuck up about stuff like that, which I'm not, so they didn't want me to see. Just because I've always got a clean house doesn't mean I give a toss about other people's. If people don't want to tidy up in their own homes I really don't care.
