    Default Back to school

I don't remember my parents ever helping me backing books and labeling stuff, even from an early age. Did we all do it ourselves back then? I'm still doing my son's and he's almost 16.

I'm having a right nightmare labeling all the stuff my daughter needs. The school doesn't provide anything, I even have to send in soap, tissues, wipes and kitchen roll. At the moment I'm having a break from writing tiny labels for 24 crayons.

I've not even started on the uniform yet, but I remember having to sew my own name into my P. E kit when I was about 12. Did you do your own, or did your parents do it all for you.

Parents didn't do it, and I didn't do it. Fuck it.

Sewing names into things my mum would do, but wrapping books I seem to remember doing myself. As for labelling stuff like crayons, I don't think we ever needed to do that.

    Same as Timey

Labels in clothes was done by mum

Backing books was down to me. Is it your choice to do your sons?

No, I've always done it because he won't try and he brings them for me to do at the very last minute. He's not got his list for this year yet, so when he does I might get him to try doing his own.

I finished my daughter's stuff yesterday. It's shocking how much a four year old has to take on their first day.

She missed kindergarten, or rather I kept her at home as long as legally possible, so she's going straight into the first year. It's awful because we haven't even met the teacher, but we have to wait at the gate for her name to be called and just send her in alone. She's never once been away from us, so it's a bit harder than it is for other parents.

Leave them alone Jules, you're spoiling it.

Besides, we know Breezy says she does it, but what she means is she asks her butler to do it.

There's no butler, if there was I wouldn't have chosen to eat take-out for more or less three months.
