Default If you saw someone crying in the street...

... would you go over and see if they were okay and would it make a difference what sex they were?

I saw a man crying outside McDonalds today. He was half sitting half trying to lay his head on his bag in the shade and just kept doing bursts of cry. He looked very upset about something, but I was too scared to go over. I hung around to see if anybody else stopped, but everybody just walked on by. One man did stop, but only for a second, then carried on walking again. When I came out he was gone.

I would go and see if I could help. I can't bare to see anyone upset so I'd ask if I could call someone for them or something

I came out of a festival early last year and while waiting for a lift a young lad was sat drunk and crying about a girl and the fact he had no phone so I called him a taxi and told him girls weren't worth crying over. He was very grateful x

I think I was just a bit wary because I was holding my daughters hand. I hinted for my husband to go over, but he'd never get involved. He doesn't even come over to me if I'm crying.

Years ago I had to come home from work with stomach pains due to gallstones. It got that bad that I had to lay down in the street doubled over in pain crying. Not a single person stopped and it was a really busy street in the center of town. They just walked around me because I was blocking the path.

    Where was that?

I guess it depends on the situation. I'd go over if they looked genuinely upset or in pain, and not just mental

Aww, that was real nice of you. I'd like to think I would do the same but I'd probably be too scared for fear of interfering. But I do think generally we are too intransigent to other people's suffering and people who might have depression or some real problems that gets them into this state, so I would hope I would have the courage to at least ask if they were OK.

I'm feeling guilty about not asking if that man was okay now. It's that motherly protection thing that stopped me. If he was a nutter I'd have been putting other people in danger, so natural instincts were to stay back and just hope someone else went over. I've got it into my head that it could've been something as simple as he had no money and was feeling ill because he was dehydrated and I could've helped. He was gone when I came out, but I don't think I'm going to ignore something like that again because it's made me feel really bad.

I avoid crying people. Stiff upper-lip is what made Britain great.

Obviously, I'd film it on my mobile electronic device and put it on social media.
