    Default Thonged flip flops.

    Does anybody wear these?

I got my son some a couple of years ago, but he said they were gay and wouldn't wear them. They seem to be the most popular footwear here and in France, but he's refusing to even try them.

He keeps wearing socks and trainers, which can't be good, so I'm stuck for what to get him. He complained the sole on the bottom of one is flapping and falling off and they're getting a bit too small, but when I suggested a flip flop he quickly said they're fine and not really that bad.

I don't know what to get, surely something similar to a Jesus sandal is even worse? Is there a form of summer footwear that I'm missing, or do I need to pressure him into seeing that thonged flip flops are cool?

I f he's determined not to wear flip flops you could get him canvas trainers (a bit like plimsolls but chunkier) and if he is into labels you can get Nike, Adidas, Converse, Superdry etc.

You probably wont have this problem with your daughter she will probably love flip flops, in fact she may want every pair she sees.

Yeah, my daughter's not a problem, she'll only wear Crocs which are fine for summer.

I was thinking about canvas if he won't wear flip flops. I saw these the other day that looked his kind of thing, so I took a photo to show him when I got back.

He liked them, but I'd still rather have him in footwear where more air circulates.

I'm not sure he'd look any better even without the socks.

I've just been flip flop shopping. I forced my son to pick a pair, he wasn't happy but he picked these after I gave him the eye a couple of times.

Anybody else think they're a bit old fashioned looking, like something your dad would wear? I'm not going to take the tag off because I'm not sure whether to change them. I don't wear flip flops, so I don't have a clue about styles or brands. I couldn't be cruel so he also got a pair of trainers. The plan is to ease him into the flip flops gradually.

You're making him wear them but you don't wear them?

Tell him to get on with it, I used to have to wear a brown and yellow tracksuit at school

I think they look ok, but I'm not a teenager . I'm sure he'll be ok with a surf type brand if that's what he's bothered about
