    Default Christmas plans!

I'd love to spend christmas with family one year, but yet again it's just the four of us. Next year will be different because I plan to make plans to spend it in England, no matter where I end up living.

    What's everybody else doing?

Well, at least there's four of you, which is not a bad number to make an event of it. We just have it at home with the two of us because other people's idea of Christmas never matches mine, and their version of Christmas dinner is not how I like to have it. Can't go to my parents as I would have to put up with non-stop secondary smoke, plus they don't have turkey as my dad doesn't like poultry (so we can't even have duck). My in-laws are OK but again the turkey is never quite right plus I find them a bit overpowering and they usually have too many people there, I prefer peace and quiet on Christmas Day. We will do visits on the other days, which will include the sister-in-law and family who are over from New Zealand.

The usual here. I will be on my own for most of it and working quite a few days just so I can save leave for a time of year that I actually like. I think the only two days I've booked off (apart from weekends) for this period are Boxing Day and New Years Day. I'll add another day between the two when I work out with the ex a good day to go and visit the kids.

I was planning on doing my usual 'cooking Christmas dinner in the TV room' here but I've actually been invited somewhere so I'm working the morning and then off to a friend's place in the afternoon for scoff.

The rest of the time I'll be working or sat here on base watching films and stuff.

Timey, does your mum smoke inside?

I've started to feel a bit lonely at christmas to be honest. I don't know whether it's years of it just being us, but when you live away you've not even got the option to pop to see family. My daughter can never make it over and we can never make it to England.

Yep, she does. She used to do it here as well until I put a stop to it. But also if she is at home she just smokes one after the other so it is constant. I understand people smoking but six an hour, every hour seems excessive.

Yeah, I can see how that would have an effect over time, you are more remote and you will feel it more at Christmas, whereas we have the option on seeing people at other times so it doesn't s3m so bad having Christmas ourselves.

Yeah that constant smoking would get to me as well. My mum is exactly the same.

You're spot on with why I feel a bit lonely. When you've got family around you, a bit of peace at christmas is more appealing. To us it feels like we're almost forgotten about.
