    Default Scotland votes 'No'

Scotland has voted 'No' to the question "Should Scotland be an independent country", by a margin of around 55% to 45%. However, considerable additonal powers for the Scottish Parliament are now expected as promised and the debate is now open for discussion on constitutional change throughout the United Kingdom. First Minister Alex Salmond is expected to make a statement later this morning.

I'm pleased with the result. I think it would have got messy economically if the yes vote had have won, for Scots and the rest of us.

I reckon that the high turnout and the close results might just have an impact on future elections as this proves that every vote can make a difference and that there are no foregone conclusions.

I'm pleased with the vote as well! The pound was starting to get weaker and the rumours of what might happen with a yes vote were scarey, especially with most of our income being in pounds.

Well that means we don't have to pay roaming charges once we get to Scotland.

Yeah, I am pleased because it means no messy break-up of the country and some stability in the economic markets - the pound apparently strengthened on news of the way the results were going. Most on the 'yes' side appear to be accepting the result with grace but some seem to be very bitter about it, which I expected. Hopefully it means that full independence is now off the agenda for my
Iifetime at least and we can get on with life. Hopefully it will also lead to a debate amongst the UK as a whole as to whether change is desired in the way we are governed.
