UFO Re: Rosetta probe & Philae lander approach comet

Philae has sent us a pic from the descent to Comet 67P:

67P - looks a lot like Peterborough or Luton

Lol - I was saying to Camb earlier that they'd all have stripy jumpers on. This is just as good!

Is the lander still where it's meant to be?

BBC Re: Rosetta probe & Philae lander approach comet

Radio says that it bounced but is now at rest in the shadow of some topography. This means that eventually the on-board batteries will go flat - until the movement of 67P through space enables sunlight to get to the solar panels of Philae again. No aliens have been discovered yet (or they are keeping quiet about it).

    UFO Comet dust

    Bloomin' comet dust! Grrrrr...

Ground controllers are analyzing a fault aboard Europe’s Rosetta spacecraft after an encounter with comet dust confused the probe’s navigation system, leaving the robot explorer in a temporary safe mode and halting regular science operations.

Rosetta ran into trouble during a March 28 flyby near the nucleus of comet 67P/Churyumov Gerasimenko.
