It just makes it more suspicious if they're not fully open with the independent observers. There's no real reason for them to stop them going in unless they have something to gain.

BBC Re: Malaysian plane crash in Ukraine

A team of 70 Dutch and Australian forensic experts has found human remains at the site of the flight MH17 crash in east Ukraine.

They made their discovery on their first full day of searching at the site, an area of some 35 sq km (13.5 sq miles) inside the conflict zone.

Local search parties found 227 of the 298 victims earlier and they were flown to the Netherlands for identification.

Fighting still rages, with 10 Ukrainian soldiers killed nearby on Thursday.

The fighting between government troops and pro-Russian separatist rebels had previously prevented the investigators reaching the area.
They've got to be pretty decomposed by now.

Must be a bugger to identify without DNA analysis, I'd guess.

MH17: Dutch Safety Board to publish preliminary report on disaster | World news | The Guardian

Authorities in the Netherlands are due to publish a preliminary report on the July downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine.

The Dutch Safety Board (DSB) says the report, due on Tuesday, will include details gathered from the cockpit voice recorder, the flight data recorder, satellite and other images, and radar information.

It is not clear whether the evidence will prove who fired the missile thought to have brought down the plane, killing all 298 people on board.

On the day of the disaster, a pro-Russia separatist leader said on social media that his forces had shot down a Ukrainian warplane but then removed the claim after it became clear a civilian airliner had been brought down. The Ukrainian government has also published intercepts, apparently between separatists, suggesting their side fired the missile. It is unclear whether the DSB report will comment on the authenticity of those intercepts.

The US and Ukraine have accused Russian forces of launching the missile, but Moscow has denied the charge, pointing instead at the Ukrainian air force.

On its website the Dutch board said: "The DSB will not make any statements with regard to apportioning blame or liability, and these issues will not form part of its investigation."
Report Into Downing Of MH17 Set For Release

Dutch authorities are expected to publish a preliminary report into the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 later.

The Netherlands is co-ordinating criminal investigations into the July 17 disaster by multiple countries, including Ukraine, Malaysia, Australia and Belgium.

The report will set out what is believed to have happened, but will not apportion blame.

All 298 passengers and crew on board the plane were killed when the aircraft, which was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur over an area in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian separatists.
BBC News - MH17 crash: Dutch experts say numerous objects hit plane

Dutch experts say Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 broke up in mid-air after being hit by "numerous objects" that "pierced the plane at high speed".

A report released by the Dutch Safety Board said there was "no evidence of technical or human error".

All 298 people on board died when the plane came down, amid reports it was shot down by pro-Russian rebels.

The plane was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it crashed in eastern Ukraine.

Dutch aviation investigators relied on information from the black box flight data recorders, air traffic control, satellite images and photos from the scene to compile the preliminary report.

They said the plane "broke up in the air probably as the result of structural damage caused by a large number of high-speed objects that penetrated the aircraft from outside."

The cockpit voice recorder revealed no signs of any technical faults or an emergency situation, the experts said.

BBC News - MH17 flight investigators remove crucial debris

Local workers have removed crucial debris and human remains from the crash site of the MH17 jet in rebel-held eastern Ukraine after months of delays.

The team, overseen by Dutch experts, targeted areas of the plane where most of the bodies are still unidentified.

The debris and remains will be taken to the Netherlands for examination.

The plane was shot down in July killing all 298 people on board - mostly Dutch nationals. Russia-backed rebels have been blamed, though they deny it.

Dutch experts oversaw workers from the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic cutting up parts of the plane and using cranes to load them onto lorries.
