    Default OMD v Kraftwerk

I'm right into my synth, especially eighties stuff, I love depeche mode, awesome..

But I really like MOD and Kraftwerk, often compared...

I prefer OMD, who steals it for you?

Out of the two I probably prefer OMD, because I'm more familiar with it.

I have to say though, I dislike that twat Andy McCluskey. I saw OMD support Simple Minds in 1991, and although I quite liked some of the stuff off Sugar Tax, when they performed live McCluskey looked like a desperate gangly half-wit. He even slipped and fell on his arse at least once, prancing around like a big jessie.

I would've ignored that experience, but later in life it turns out he created Atomic Kitten and said in an interview he wished he'd done it years earlier instead of writing all that depressing shite about nuclear bombs. That can never be forgiven.

I prefer OMD, especially Tesla Girls. I was never keen on Kraftwerk mainly because they looked less like bad robots and more like 80's Yuppies, also Tour de France was overplayed.

OMD for me - Enola Gay is just a top pop record. Great and totally recognizable intro.

ffs, mi never knew about the Atomic Kitten!

Quite often artist do prance about and look like drama Queens, sometimes it's part of the act, but I agree, Mcluskey is a great vocalist..

I was a nipper in the eighties so OMD stuff has happy memories for me

I was a huge fan of a marillion till Fish left

Def Leppard, oh I was mad on them too!

Up till now, you guys got good taste!

I liked a few of the synth bands, they were hard to miss cos they were like the new thing, it was like all bands had to have those new plug in light up toys to play with. I liked Propaganda and The Pet Shop Boys, I was a huge PSBs fan in their early days, they were the first band I was a fan of.

I remember me dad saying that those synthesisers would do away with needing proper bands, glad he was wrong and it was just a phase.

Totally agree with you CK, I loved the pet shop boys, not so much now though...

Depeche mode and soft cell are and were respectively, been to see soft cell twice when they briefly re-formed around 2001-2002 .

Depeche mode obviously still going strong and still sound great!

Dave Gahan has some excellent solo material..

I'm big on reggae too... bunny wailer, Peter tosh, Yellowman, roots radics, scientist etc.. fab!

I think Kraftwerk were the pioneers, they did some great pop songs, with great melodies, but also some stuff that was pretty bizarre. Experimental and ground breaking

    Kraftwerk - OMD v Kraftwerk

OMD were more of a pop band, and wrote some good tunes
