    Default Life in the RAF

The videos I post in here may or may not be fairly accurate.

I'll try and help by posting bits of jargon from the videos if I spot it.

The Bop - an old fashioned term from decades ago that is still used today, just think of it as a disco.
WRAF aka Waff/Waaf (pronounced with the a sound as in the word bad) - a female member of the RAF.
PTI - Physical Training Instructor (they have lovely white jackets that they wear).
Crew room - where we sit and have a brew when we're having a break at work.
RAF Regiment - the blokes who train us in military skills etc, their normal war role is guarding airfields. They struggle at spelling tests.

LAC - Leading Aircraftman. A low rank in the RAF.
Flight Sergeant - A lot higher rank.
PEdO - Physical Education Officer - the bloke in charge of the PTIs on base.
Shiney Line Pound - A Mythical thing which lineys (techies who work on the flight line) do things for, i. e. someone bet them and they had to do it.
Waaf block - The female-only barrack blocks on RAF bases.
    Twos up - haha.
JT - Junior Technician, another rank we have.
Aki Arms - The Akrotiri arms, a drinking establishment at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.

Rigger - In this case a nickname for a member of the ground crew responsible for the frame of the aircraft, also a nickname for aerial erectors.
Heavy - nickname for someone who deals with engines. I believe Riggers and Heavies were merged a few years back.
Cosford - RAF Cosford, where we train our engineers.
MAA - Minor administrative action - a formal bollocking.
Det - Short for detatchment or deployment, basically going away somewhere not so nice.

Jengo - Junior Engineering Officer - basically the first point of contact for any issues in the engineering sections.
