Cool Is This The Scariest Ride In The World?

    Thorpe Park Saw
Walking towards Thorpe Park's newest ride is a nerve-wracking experience.

A vertical climb followed by a drop juts out of what looks like a disused warehouse.

This is the first view you get as you approach what is being billed as the most terrifying rollercoaster in the world.

And, after trying it out first hand, I would be in complete agreement.

Organisers say they have tried to give customers the full Saw experience.

It is inspired by the horror film series of the same name and the aim of the ride is to torment and terrify.

Queuing is done through a "metal pen" with (fake) barbed wire running around its tall fences. The aim, I was told, is for the customers to feel slightly uncomfortable.

When inside the warehouse you are greeted with an ominous message scrawled in red paint on the prefabricated metal walls: let the game begin.

After passing various pools of (fake) blood and the chilling sounds of gunshots and screams, the scene is set and the ride is before you.

Candy Holland, creative director for Resort Theme Parks, the company behind Thorpe Park, has spent 18 months on the design and says she is very pleased with the result.

"It's been quite a fast-track design to be honest. But having the Saw films as a backdrop has allowed us to really explore the psychological side of things as well as creating the most intense ride we can.

"Going on the rollercoasters is part of the job and I wouldn't think anyone will be disappointed with this."

You move forward into complete darkness. You stop. You start again, slowly at first and then find yourself hurtling toward blood-stained blades... dipping past them at the last minute you are thrown into the light, turned upside down, then back again, before another brief respite.

The 100ft vertical track is in front of you and the climb begins. As you go over the top you can't see anything but the ground coming at you at around 55mph.

You are thrown left and right and upside down again.

The ride is certainly not for the faint-hearted and lasts around 100 seconds - which is a surprisingly long time when you are being thrown around at G-forces of up to 4.7.

Upon leaving the ride I was shaken and a little unsteady on my feet. Stumbling towards the exit and the organisers there was only one thing left to ask: "Can I have another go?"

Thorpe Park opens to the public for the full 2009 season from Saturday with the Saw one of many white-knuckle rides.

Whoaa! Is this even safe? The Saw movies are cool to watch sometimes, but this is overly scary! By the way, has anyone seen Saw V? I heard it was pretty good...
