He's right, the TV licensing system is a fucking joke. It's not the licence itself which is at fault, or the BBC, it's just the arseholes they contract to enforce it. Set of wankers.

Well, they can in theory, but it's really difficult to prove.

For starters, whatever you might believe detector vans are firstly hardly used and secondly not admissible in court. So to actually prove that you have been receiving television broadcasts without a licence they would need witnesses, and they can hardly witness what you do in the privacy of your own home.

So what they do is turn up and intimidate people into confessing what they've been doing, if people just told them to fuck off they'd have no prosecutions.

That's the point, people don't know much about TV licencing. A lot of people think you need a licence to own a TV, that's not true.

And when some arrogant smart arse bangs on your door and starts threatening and bullshitting you about going to prison, most people just sign a confession thinking their doing it to avoid jail.

I had a big fall out with them, I didn't have a TV licence because I didn't watch TV. But they wouldn't believe that and would constantly harass me and make threats. I used to tell them to fuck off, and the weedy little wankers would do their best Arnie impersonation and leave with "I'll be back"!
