Re: Evil Artwork - The curse of The Crying Boy.
The painting depicted isn't the sort of thing I'd choose to adorn any one of my walls anyway!!!

Re: Evil Artwork - The curse of The Crying Boy.
....carrying on from my post on the 'guardian angel' thread.
The picture in question has been taken down by my husband and put in the garage for now....![]()
I've never really thought about it - but he pointed out a few things that we both didn't give much thought to (because at the end of the day - it's a picture!!).
The picture was painted by a Spanish street artist about 20 years ago. His mum was in good health celebrating valentines day at their family apartment in Spain, when she decided to have her portrait done. She came 'home' to get ready to go bowling, when she complained about heartburn. Within the hour, she died of a massive heart-attack. My husbands grandma went - saw the portrait and took it back to England and stored it away (she didn't feel like people would want a reminder like that) - so it was forgotten about.
..being old - she decided last year to clear through a few things in preparation for her own death, so other people didn't have it all to do. She came across the portrait and asked us if we'd like it. She said she didn't know when it was done - but it's a very good likeness. My husband doesn't have any pictures of his mum - so he thought it'd be nice to have. On getting it back to France - I noticed the date it was done. I felt a bit weird about it - but then thought it was nice to have a reminder up for my husband.
...I won't go into the 'sad events' over the last year - but they've been coming at us constantly at every turn. It could be coincidence - but I'm willing to 'test it' by taking the portrait down. It's been hidden away for over 20 years - we're the first to have it since it was painted....does the picture have some kind of 'sadness' curse? or are we mentalists?

it sounds plausible.

I'd hazard a guess at coincidence above all else, but if you believe something strongly enough, it's possible to blame it for things going wrong.
Mrs S bought a double snakehead ring years ago and says that each time she wore it something bad happened and selling it stopped bad things from happening, but she'll never be sure, basically because bad things are bound to happen now and then.

The curse - or that we're mentalists?![]()
I wouldn't usually even half believe something like that - and I know people make their own luck. I haven't gone searching for something to blame or anything - but my eyes are always drawn to hat portrait for some reason. It's nothing to do with luck/bad luck that we've been having...it's more to do with our family as a whole feeling like we're fighting to stay together because of different events out of our control.
When my husband stopped looking at it as 'his mum' - he saw my reasoning straight away and wanted the portrait out of the house when he thought back to all the coincidences that I'd not thought about.![]()
When we brought the portrait back - all the trouble with my daughter started instantly (coincidence? - maybe). My mum then came over for a visit (in good health) and experienced a massive heart-attack while at work as soon as she got home. She works in a nursing home, so was looked after instantly (another coincidence?).
I won't mention the other stuff for personal reasons - I've mentioned those two things already on the forum, so I don't mind mentioning those again.![]()
....I'm willing to not be sceptical for a while and see if things improve...stranger things can happen![]()

Re: Evil Artwork - The curse of The Crying Boy.
That's the way I feel. I don't believe it strongly enough - but the coincidences are too strong not to when they're pointed out. I would've taken it down ages ago if I'd pinned my hopes on the portrait being at the route of all our problems. I've managed to 'get through' the problems without blaming them on some old portrait - but after the events (and when I'm 'over' them) - they all seem to start around the time we brought that portrait over to France. I know you have good and bad runs of things - it's not that I'm experiencing.
Re: Evil Artwork - The curse of The Crying Boy.
If you think it will help by removing it, the best thing to do is remove it as you have and now hope for good things to happen.

or just burn it!
