Blackpool Pleasure Beach charge an entrance fee.
From 2009 Blackpool Pleasure Beach will no longer be able to boast that it is the biggest Free to enter amusement park, as it will be placing a charge of £5 just to get through the gates.
This is a bad move for the Pleasure Beach and for Blackpool as a whole. Amusement Parks such as Alton Towers charge an all inclusive fee which pays for the cost of entry and for unlimited rides, but for a family Blackpool's amusement park has always offered Free Entrance and you pay for ride only bands or tickets, meaning that those who do not wish to go on any rides are not paying the same as those that do.
For Grandparents taking their Grandchildren out for a day Blackpool has always offered the better deal, until now.

Doesn't sound like a good idea
Do they think they will make more money this way?
It's probably going to put people off going

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach charge an entrance fee.
They probably need funds to fix things.

Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach charge an entrance fee.
They tried the same thing with Southport pleasure land and that backfired.
I think it's pure greed and it will put people off going, it'll definitely put families off taking their children.
IMO they'd have been better off stopping people from bringing their own food and working on creating reasonably priced eating and drinking places instead. That way you're not alienating anybody and you're making money without it being so damned obvious.
