    Default New Years Eve

What's everyone doing for New Years Eve this year and who are you spending it with? Friends, family, strangers?

New years eve has always been really important to me. I'm superstition when it comes to it and feel it 'moulds' the coming year for me depending on who with, and where I spend it - which it does seem to.

The superstition is, whoever (and wherever) you bring the new year in with will be in your life and heart for the following year.

I'm gonna be in Rome with my husband and son this year. I don't think I want Rome in my life or heart for a year (it was either that or Spain ), but you never know - I'm that superstitious about it, my life will probably change and I'll find myself living there before the year's out.

I find seeing out the old year as a real downer.
I'm tempted to try and sleep through it, this year.

Why do you feel that? Don't you look forward to the coming year with a bit of excitement - like turning a new leaf? I have to be alert and awake when it gets to midnight - I'd regret it and blame every 'problem' in the year on doing new years eve wrong.

In Italy, the tradition is to wear red knickers to bring the new year in with () - I'll be wearing them.

I'm just looking forward to not having to work it this year. I think we'll have a nice quiet one in, this year. ;-)

I will see New Year in and that is it. I look forward to the New Year but not so much that I want to drink myself silly about it. I'm also working on the 2nd so don't want to overdo it.

Re the thing about what you are doing setting the scene for the year ahead, I used to think that too, btu my year has usually turned out totally different to what i did at new Year, so I don't believe it any more.

I don't really celebrate NYE. It's just another night to me but one where all the shops are shut and there's nowt proper on the telly. I do like to be at home in my comfort zone with the people I love though so it must mean something somewhere. Mum used to offer to look after Rat so I could go out somewhere but I never liked the thought of us waking up in different houses on New Years day so I always said no thanks.
