Monopoly 2008
You can now buy Monopoly to play on your PC.
Monopoly 2008 PC game.
I don't understand the fascination with this game, it's one of the most boring games ever ever ever and yet year after year it's rehashed and resold. Monopoly for your town, Simpsons Monopoly, Star Wars Monopoly, Monopoly delux, personalise your own Monopoly, Silver and Onyx edition Monopoly etc etc etc etc and even Gold dipped pieces.
For those with more money than sense.

I had Monopoly on the Spectrum 20 years ago!
I quite like the game but it does take a long time and is not much fun for the one who goes bankrupt first. It's an iconic game though and has its place in history.![]()

My only friend through teenage nights,
And everything I had to know, I heard it on my radio'

Re: Monopoly 2008
My husband loves the game - we've got loads of different versions (some unused). That's because it's only just recently I lifted the lifetime ban I put on the game being played in our house.
He takes it too seriously and needs to win, so causes an atmosphere in the house if he isn't winning. I was sick to death of seeing his roostery face counting and fingering through his money like scrooge, while we're all sat there with a couple of pounds. He doesn't smile - he's totally serious.
He has to be the dog as well. He claims he's always been the dog, so no-one else can ever use it. I tried using it once, but I could see him seething every time it was my move. I took my time and walked it around the board pretending it was sniffing and roostering it's leg up, but he claimed I was taking the p*ss because he was the hat.![]()
He takes it far too seriously, so I refused to play it about 7 years ago. The following year, I bought him the Simpsons version, then a couple of years ago the Montpellier one - but they sat in their boxes because no-one would play with him. He turns evil.
We've played it once or twice this year though. I have to sit him down and tell him the rules before I'll even think about it though. The first being - I have to be the dog.
Re: Monopoly 2008
Somehow I can't quite picture everyone sitting round a computer playing Monopoly. It would be twice as frustrating. I also enjoy Monopoly but, if I end up playing, the rules always end up twisting themselfs as everyone is either eager to buy houses, or running out of money pretty quickly. It definetly is a fun game, and I don't think I'd have the patience or the enthusiasm to sit round a computer playing it. It's much more fun when there's people involved, beats a computer screen anyday.![]()
