    Default I Remember.

I remember storiz from yesteryear about Mrs. Cox having to go the Standard Car factory at dinner time on a Friday to take her husbandz wagez from him or he would booze and gamble it away before he got home.

I can remember a bloke taking his wifes shoes to work so she would not go out boozing with a mate he thought a bit disreputable, maybe he was not looking in the right place.

My mum told me that whilst she lived at home with her parents that she had to hand over her wage packet unopened every week and from that they would allocate her an allowance.

Yeah, some people still do that. It's not somethng I have ever subscribed to though. Our wages both go into the same pot and we do the finances together and decide what we need and what we want and if there are any savings at the end of it.

My cousins, who are a similar age to me, used to have to do that as well. Also, as adults they'd come home from work, have their tea, then after they'd eaten it they could have a Pringle. It was only ever just the one though. My aunty used to have them hid in a cupboard behind the settee that only she went in. She'd disappear inside then come out with the Pringles and they had to line up for one. Once you pop you can't stop wasn't allowed in their house.

My eldest Lass used to work after school and when she got paid she would give it to me or my partner and we would give her money when she needed it ! (we actually banked her whole wage unbeknown to her ) she was not a greedy lass so she only asked for picture money and whatever(we always let the kids buy thier own clothes from our money) when she left home she was better off than me !!
