    Default Eggs.

My wife payz £1.49 to £1.59 for 6 free range organic eggz, it infuriatez me but as I an't the boss at home I grin and bear it, well I did.
I bought 6 mixed size eggs which were not small, not organic or free range for 59p.
Yesterday I poached her 2 on toast and she enjoyed them, said how nice they were. She only eatz the yolkz so I cut all the white off for me foxez.

I could not resist telling her I had fooled her, she has gone mad and not speaking, dozy mare.

Do you live with a nutter???

Well I don't think taste has anything to do with it. It is more to do with not liking your poor chicken stuffed in a small cage unable to hardly move. But you saved a quid so good on you.

Supermarket eggs are crap anyway, at least round here anyway. And I always buy free range.

I don't trust the supermarket eggs to be as free range as what they say. Supermarkets buy in bulk, they buy cheap and they inflate the prices. Eggs at Tesco tend to be upwards of £1.50 for 6 no matter what they say on the packet.

I try to buy mine from a local shop that sells farm produce. The eggs there are called free range and they're £1 for 6.

I think what makes the eggs taste nice isn't just the freedom the chicks have to roam but what they are fed on. Chickens having all the space in the world will lay crap eggs if their diet is cheap.

btw - I've not had a proper decent egg since we were in Mexico.

I've tried all kinds of eggs and I can't find a decent egg nowadays. I only buy free range, mainly hoping they'll taste better. Sometimes I have the odd one that tastes like eggs used to taste, but then they go back to being tasteless again. The supermarket ones are not always as fresh as they say they are because you can tell when you look at the egg white. I just don't know what happened because years ago eggs tasted more or less the same and you never really got a bad tasteless egg.

Yeah, same here. The best eggs we ever have are when we go to Lanzarote. I've no idea why they should be better over there but I am assuming that the stuff they feed them on here is cheap stuff so they can make.more.money. Why are we ao greedy in this country?

I don't know Timey but it's getting reet on my nerves, greed is everywhere at the mo

I heard a good saying about greed the other day, i've forgotten it properly but it was basically saying that people who are greedy will never be happy cos whatever they get will never satisfy them, they'll always want more.

Yeah there's a good old film that touches on that: Key Largo with Humphrey Bogart and Edward G Robinson. He asks the gangster guy what does he really want from life and when he says to him "I know what you want. You want more" . And the gangster replies, "Yeah that's it, I want more", as if that was perfectly normal. But the hero was making the point that this meant that he would never be content with anything in life. Great film that.
